Responsible tech, built for people

We are a Berlin based non-profit that advocates for citizen-centered & democratized technology.

What we are working towards:

Transparency

Language is seen as the ultimative human trade. We advocate for dehumanizing AI so users are able to clearly recognize if they are talking to a human or a Chatbot. We advocate for clear guide lines, rules and labels whenever AI is making life-altering decisions, e.g. in hiring, banking and other areas of the public, that heavily influence individual lives.

Connection

Social media transformed how humans connected and algorithms have an effect on perception. AI transforms interactions even further, as well as language comprehension, communication patterns, education, workplaces and many more. These effects on society must be made visible, understandable, and the consequences considered.

Accountability

We love technology that enhances human experience – but only if products are safe, add to a collective well-being and do not drain vital resources. Whenever tech can cause harm, responsible parties must be held accountable. Tech has to be held to the same standards. Progress must be responsible and sustainable or its no progress at all.

About Us

Right now a few people decide for all of us – and we did not consent.

In our opinion a handful of companies race for technological progress, without being able to exactly predict its outcomes what makes it basically an experiment. While experimenting is part of research, the scale of it makes it not okay.

Concerns have been raised that safety considerations may not always keep pace with development speed. All of that however is done to create the bright future ahead: Ending world hunger or curing cancer. According to some, needing a wage will be redundant and citizens will be sustained by a universal basic income (UBI) – not stating who exactly will finance it.

Whenever responsible parties are confronted with possible risks, responses were interpreted as concerning by downplaying risks. We already can conclude certain scenarios based on past and present events, paired with key industry figures and their publicly made motivations. For all our work we apply an inductive reasoning method that gives us an idea of future.

Change is possible:

Whilst it seems that certain developments are inevitable, it is important to take a step back and evaluate this assumption. Change is never thinkable until it’s done. This applied for most of histories developments and advancements and also applied for the following:

Attention

We observe tech and rapid AI development solely through the public lens. What does this trend mean for the majority? We publish news, educational material and papers to make our observations public.

Awareness

Being aware of AI and its implications will lead to caring about it, because chances are high it also affects you or your loved ones. We want to enable a broad audience to be easily informed and educated on impact, not technical set-ups and hard to understand tech-lingo.

Actions

This is the crucial step: Be active, be involved and take action. As of now AI and the consequences are not really on political ballots because AI is hard to predict. But we need our electives to care right now so they position themselves on the political landscapes for their constituents. We plan campaigns, foster a network and actions to make your voice heard, take influence and connect with other organizations with the same goals to shift the needle.
